In this post, I take you on a photo tour that will make you want to drive the Pacific Coast Hwy despite the 2017 Big Sur landslides. I discuss how Big Sur landslides in 2017 have changed the landscape of the Pacific Coast Hwy. Without Big Sur is it worth it? After my May 2017 California Road Trip, I say resoundingly YES! Find out why.
When your three year old is still on east coast time, he gets up at 5:15 am in Monterey, California. Sneaking out so as not to wake the rest of the family, we walked out into the brisk cool morning, crossed the street from our hotel onto a very nice jogging and bike walkway, and were greeted with this stunningsunrise! This is quite a sunrise for my very first west coast sunrise! WOW!
San Francisco is a fascinating city to visit. Unfortunately, our road trip was so full with so much to see and do, we only had about twenty four hours there. In California Road Trippin: San Francisco Day 1, I shared our adventures on our first day in this grand city. We did all the usual tourist things on the Fisherman’s Wharf. It was breezy and cold during our visit, but the sun was shining and we enjoyed our short time there.
We have just returned from our California Road Trip after eighteen wonderful days driving through this amazing state. As I reflected upon the trip and began sorting through the pictures, I realized that I should have journaled every day of this whirlwind trip. We flew over 2100 miles one way, stayed in ten different hotels, had meals in more than a dozen cities, and logged nearly 2100 miles on the rental car over the course of 18 days with three kids! Phew, I’m exhausted just typing that out!
