Complete Guide To Disney Boardwalk Part 2: The Restaurants

In Complete Guide to Disney Boardwalk Part 1, I introduced you to the resorts found in the Boardwalk area of the Walt Disney World Resorts.  In part 2 of this series, let’s talk food!

There are more than 40 restaurants and lounges to choose from in the Boardwalk area making it a fantastic choice for a night out.

As you can imagine, my bucket list for this area is still rather long.  In This article, I will share about Disney Boardwalk’s

Meet Some Characters

The Garden Grove

First up, let’s meet some characters!  I mentioned in my last article, that while the Swan and Dolphin isn’t technically a Disney property, they still offer many of the benefits of being on Disney property.  This is definitely the case when it comes to the restaurant options at the Swan and Dolphin.

We enjoyed a wonderful character breakfast at the Garden Grove located in the Swan resort.  As I mentioned previously, don’t confuse this with the Garden Grill located in Epcot.  The breakfast buffet consists of pastries, pancakes, made to order omelets, and much more.

Each night at dinner—as well as during Good Morning Character Breakfast events on Saturdays and Sundays—a duo of Disney Characters will pop in,

Our characters were Pluto and Goofy for breakfast. Don’t forget those autograph books!

Touring plans lists the most recent character meal prices for breakfast at $16 for kids and $25 for adults.  The dinner range is $30-37 for adults and $17 for kids.

Trattoria al Forno

During our visit to the Boardwalk area in February 2016, we happened upon Trattoria al Forno for breakfast.  It was typical Disney fare with allergy safe Mickey Waffles, so my family was happy!

However, since our visit there, they have since turned breakfast into a character meal.  The Bon Voyage Adventure Breakfast features characters from The Little Mermaid and Tangled.  Disney’s site states you may encounter such characters as:

  • Ariel
  • Prince Eric
  • Rapunzel
  • Flynn Rider

These characters will also sign autographs so be sure to bring your books.

Amazing Signature Restaurants

Flying Fish

Some of the best signature restaurants on property are also found in the Boardwalk area including my favorite, The Flying Fish.  If you are looking for a magnificent seafood dinner, look no further than Flying Fish.  We enjoyed dinner here so much the first time, that I included it again on a subsequent visit.  I don’t usually do this because my bucket list for Disney dining is rather long. However, we were so WOWed by our first visit, I just had to go again.

Featured on the front page of my website is this fabulous shrimp and scallops dish.  The menu, however, is seasonal, so the entree selection changes.  However, having said that, never hesitate to ask if you don’t see something.  I have always found Disney chefs more than willing to try to accommodate requests if it is at all possible.

My husband has enjoyed the Wagyu beef steak on both occasions.  It does melt in your mouth!

The interior of the restaurant feels elegant, yet our kids were very welcomed and comfortable on both of our visits.

If you enjoy adult beverages (and even if you don’t) be sure to step into the Abracadabar next door while there. The theming is charming! You can’t miss it as you go this way to the restrooms. Ha ha!

On another occasion, Mr. VeraVise and I enjoyed a date night dining at Todd English’s Blu Zoo.  The Korean short ribs were divine! For more information click here .

Looking for A Burger?

Yacht Club Crew's Cup Lounge

If you are looking for a tasty burger and truffle fries, check out the Yacht Club’s Crew’s Cup Lounge.  It’s known more for its Lobster roll, but I found the burger to be spot on!

Also located next door at the Beach Club resort is Beaches and Cream Soda shop, but I’d save that for the dessert as the burger was underwhelming in my opinion.

Swan & Dolphin The Fountain

If you want a more economical option for burgers and sandwiches, check out The Fountain restaurant  located in the Swan & Dolphin resort area.  Being a non-Disney option they offered a 15% discount for AAA members who can present a card.

Don't Forget Dessert!

Ample Hills Creamery

In the mood for Ice Cream after dinner? You must stop in Ample Hills Creamery.  I have to give them a special mention because my son was unable to eat here due to his allergies. The manager went WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND to try to accommodate us.  She GAVE us Caramel corn he could eat, offered to get a special brownie for him, and honestly, I can’t remember the other things she offered. Unfortunately, he wanted ice cream.  Thankfully, just on the other side of the boardwalk, he did get a fabulous cone at Beaches & Cream!

Beaches and Cream Soda Shop

Of course, since I mentioned, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, home to the famous Kitchen Sink, we can’t forget it.  We didn’t choose this option due to our food allergies, but if you are up for the challenge then go for it.

I wasn’t particularly impressed with the burgers here, but the ice cream was good and the entertainment value is high! It’s pretty exciting when someone orders the Kitchen sink!

Make Room For Boardwalk In Your Disney World Plans!

If strolling along a beachside boardwalk hand in hand with your sweetheart, laughing as the kids interact with street performers, and eating ice cream during the fireworks  of one of Disney’s theme parks sounds like a great evening, then the Boardwalk is where you want to be!  Regardless of where you stay while on vacation at Walt Disney World,  I highly recommend you schedule an evening there to take advantage of all the great food and activities.

Final Tips & Tricks

  • While reservations are recommended for most Signature Restaurants, don’t be afraid to check same day or even walk up, you might get in anyway.
  • Be sure to allow time in  your evening to enjoy the street performers on the Boardwalk
  • Have Fun & Take Lot’s of Pictures!

  1. I haven’t spent much time at the Boardwalk but we usually have at least one non park day when we go to WDW. I’ll have to pencil it in for our next trip. #MouseFanMondays

  2. Love so many of these restaurants! We have had one of the best meals of our many Disney trips at Flying Fish and loved the Character Meal at Trattoria Al Forno. I still need to try the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream! Thanks for sharing with #disfanchat.

  3. Oh YES to Kona!! We’ve never stayed there hubby likes GF better, but I hang at the Poly as much as pissible. TONGA TOAST BABY!

  4. Gotta say, Disney does family restaurants right! We do tend to splurge and make our way to some of the deluxe resort restaurants. (We’re total suckers for breakfast at the Polynesian’s Kona Cafe!) That’s one thing we really enjoy about staying on property – some of the resorts are attractions themselves! Good luck with the new blog linky, and thanks for sharing on #TheWeeklyPostcard!

  5. Hahah….that would make for a match made in “magic” I guess. Thx for stopping by! I am a late bloomer when it comes to Disney, but I am doing my best to catch up. #theweeklypostcard

  6. Thanks!! I will still always be involved in #TheWeeklyPostcard! I still have so much to share about California AND I am leaving for Yellowstone, Rocky Mountain, and Grand Tetons next month…and then Denver again in October!! So much to share, so little time!! Thx for stopping by

  7. The food all looks so good. Can’t believe there are 40 restaurants! It’s so nice to find nice restaurants that are good for kids. And so nice to see pictures of your beautiful family. And good luck to you on your new linkup. #TheWeeklyPostcard.

  8. Haha I love how you included extra info for connecting with other Disney nerds! Growing up in Cali and going to Disneyland all the time, I used to be a biiiig fan and had a pass. I had lots of friends too who were obsessed! I’ve even heard there’s a Disney dating app out there! Thanks for linking up with #TheWeeklyPostcard!
