What Is The Closest Major Airport To Pigeon Forge, TN?

The closest airport to Pigeon Forge is Knoxville McGhee Tyson (TYS) which is located 24.5 miles away from the city. The following airlines fly into Knoxville: Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and United Airlines.

Other major airports near Pigeon Forge are Asheville Regional Airport which is located 61.94 miles away, Blountville Tri-Cities Airport which is 79.86 miles away, and Greenville/Spartanburg Airport  (GSP), which is located 97.24 miles away.

Knoxville To Pigeon Forge

There are a few different ways to travel from McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. You can book a flight on a light plane, take a taxi, use Uber or Lyft, or rent a car.

There are different taxi companies permitted to operate at the airport, and they can all be found just outside of the baggage claim area. For more covenience, take Uber or Lyft. Their pick-up area is located on the lower level of the terminal outside. Just follow the signs to get there.

If you want to have your own vehicle to explore Pigeon Forge and the surrounding areas, renting a car is a great option. There are several car rental companies located at the airport, so you can easily find one that fits your needs.

If you’re looking to travel from Knoxville directly to Pigeon Forge, there is no direct connection. Instead, you can take the bus to Mountain Grove SB before Majestic Grove, then transfer over to a taxi which will drop you off at your destination in Pigeon Forge.

How To Get To Pigeon Forge, TN?

Most people coming to the Smokies will do so from Nashville, Knoxville or Asheville. If you’re coming from anywhere other than Cherokee, NC, you’ll eventually find yourselves on Interstate 40. 

The exit you should take is Exit 407 – Winfield Dunn Parkway (Hwy 66) to Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You’ll need to follow that route as it becomes U.S 441 Scenic Parkway in Sevierville and continue following it into Pigeon Forge.

How Do You Get Around Pigeon Forge Without A Car?

One of the most affordable and fun ways to get around Pigeon Forge is by taking the Fun Time Trolley. The trolley operates from 8:00 AM to midnight, with reduced hours in November through March (10:00 AM – 10:00 PM).

You can use the trolley to visit all your favorite destinations in Pigeon Forge. Fares start at $1.00, and children under 3 ride for free. Main Street transit runs every 20-25 minutes.

Please note that the trolley does not operate on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve or Christmas day.
