As we already mentioned, May is one of the best times of year to visit the famous gateway to the Smokies. The spring break crowds have gone home, and the summer family vacation crowds haven’t yet arrived.
However, unlike the early Spring dates, the temperatures are rising, but the sweltering humidity hasn’t made its debut.
You can expect pleasant temperatures in the upper 60 to 75 degrees. You will experience beautiful flower displays, bright green trees, and scenic drives with those perfect temperatures throughout the region.

Whatever type of activity you choose will be sure to leave lasting memories! So come enjoy all that this mountain town has to offer this May; you’ll have an experience unlike any other!

- Circle Yer Wagens (May 6-7, 2023)- Presented by the Appalachian Volkswagen Association, this 2-day show includes a huge swap meet, contests with cash prizes, stereo contests, engine sound-offs, and riverbank camping in the show area.
- Grand National F-100 Ford Show (May 18-20, 2023)- The country's largest classic Ford truck show. Different Ford trucks from 1996 and older will be showcased along with an awards banquet and food vendors.
- Chevy Classic Roundup (May 16-21, 2023)- This is an annual Tri-Five show that celebrates the American icon classic Chevrolets from 1955-57. Get the chance to see over 100 modified and restored Chevys.
- Smoky Mountain Antique Toy & Pedal Car Show (May 17-20, 2023)- Mark your calendars for the biggest Vintage Toy & Pedal Car show anywhere! This 4-day event will be held at the Music Road Resort and Conference Center.

As spring flowers reach their peak throughout the Smokies, guests are invited to Dollywood’s Flower & Food Festival starts blooming from April 21 to June 11, 2023.
With almost half a million flowers displayed across the theme park and giant floral sculptures with unique scenes featuring animals and even a depiction of Dolly’s mother quilting the Coat of Many Colors.
