Dolly Parton, one of the world’s most renowned singers and songwriters, is from Sevierville Tennessee. She is a proud Tennessean and often speaks fondly of the town she grew up in.
She was born into a large family of 12 siblings and started singing at an early age. By the time she was 6, Dolly was performing on radio shows.
Not only is she a musical legend, but she also has made a lasting impact on her hometown with the opening of Dollywood in 1986. This 150-acre family theme park has become one of the most popular attractions in the area, with its thrilling rides, live entertainment, and delicious restaurants.
Dolly Parton has carved out an iconic career spanning decades and continues to remain hugely popular both nationally and internationally.
As a way of saying “thank you” for all her contributions to the community, a bronze statue of Dolly Parton was unveiled on the Sevier County Courthouse lawn in 1987.
Sculpted by local artist Jim Gray, this statue depicts a youthful and happy Dolly strumming her guitar while sitting on a rock.
