Where is The Highest Point in Tennessee?
Clingmans Dome is the highest point at 6,643 feet and the third highest mountain in the east of the Mississippi.
It’s a popular destination for hikers and photographers alike because of its challenging trails and stunning views.
Clingmans Dome is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Gatlinburg, Tennessee. There are two ways to get to the top of Clingmans Dome: by foot or by car.
The road to the top is open from mid-April through November, weather permitting.
From the top, you can see seven states on a clear day namely Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, and Mississippi.
If you’re planning on hiking to the top of Clingmans Dome, be sure to wear a good pair of hiking shoes and bring plenty of water and some snacks.
If you’re not up for hiking, you can still enjoy the views from the top of Clingmans Dome by taking the 7-mile scenic drive in the Smokies.

The trail to the summit is just over seven miles long and is considered moderately difficult, so make sure you’re prepared before setting out.
Once you reach the top of Clingmans Dome, you’ll be rewarded with stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. On a clear day, you can even see as far as 100 miles away!
